Project Overview & Engagement Profile

The cooperation involves maintaining, scaling, and optimising core on-premise infrastructure for a major global investment bank. The primary focus centers on driving the reliability and efficiency of essential developer tools and services — including Jenkins, BitBucket, and BuildBarn — for an on-prem installation serving a user base of over 10,000 developers. The delivery of services relies on strong system administration, deep networking knowledge, and automation. While 99% of the infrastructure is Linux-based, cross-ecosystem support covering Linux, Windows, and macOS environments is required. For engagements at a Senior level, the scope extends to leading the diagnosis and resolution of complex performance bottlenecks across this large-scale infrastructure.

Required Expertise and Capabilities:

  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in software engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, with a strong interest in working on infrastructure.
  • Strong proficiency in Python (clean, maintainable code, automation, backend services), plus Bash scripting.
  • Proven track record of designing and optimising CI/CD pipelines, ideally with hands-on experience managing on-premise developer tools (Jenkins, BitBucket, BuildBarn).
  • Solid background in Linux administration and a good understanding of networking (DNS, firewalls, VLANs).
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and container registry management.
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and solving performance problems at scale, including tracking capacity and system metrics.
  • English language proficiency at a minimum B2/C1 level.

Nice to have:

  • Python web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask) and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Performance, stress, or latency testing.
  • PowerShell / Windows administration, macOS support.
  • Experience in large-scale Enterprise or financial environments.
